Malt, hops, and water are brought together to create an art form. Unlike other beers, we use only the first press of the wort, hence ICHIBAN —which means first and best in Japanese. Our First Press process, or ichiban shibori method in Japanese, brews beer to its purest state for the best flavor, extracting only the most flavorful parts of the finest ingredients.
Brewed with German malts and hops, along with the famed Koshihikari rice from Niigata Prefecture, Echigo Koshihikari is clean and simple yet packed with delicious rice flavor, made with Hersbrucker hops. It has fine and persistent carbonation and a clean, crisp flavor from the super premium rice. By using the Decoction method, Echigo Brewery maximizes the flavor from the rice and malt.
Our first dark beer is bold, flavorful, and smooth, with a crisp finish in classic Sapporo fashion. Sapporo Premium Black is crafted from roasted dark malts, showcasing a refined hop bitterness that is complemented by a sweet, round fullness, as well as distinct coffee and chocolate flavors.
